Practice Self-Care


Everyone practices self-care differently. The general meaning of this term includes any activity you purposefully do to benefit your health and well-being. At the same time, self-care can contribute to maintaining and losing weight.

Stay on top of preventive care – Visit your doctor regularly for physicals, blood pressure checks and more. Your doctor can help identify a healthy weight you should strive for as well as offer tips to achieve it based on your medical history.


Exercise and eat healthy – Two of the best things you can do for your health and weight!


Get a good night’s sleep – Being well-rested is important for self-care, helps you manage stress and keeps the hormones that regulate hunger
 in balance.


Have fun – Go out to dinner, see a movie, have a spa day — any activity that you can do that puts your needs and pleasure first.


Unplug – Take time away from your “screens” (cell phone, computer, TV, tablet, etc.). Research by the USDA found that people who spend more time
in front of screens have a greater chance of being obese and developing health problems.


Commit to relaxation – Aim to take at least 15 minutes out of your day to relax.
