Healthy-Eating-for-SeniorsHigh blood pressure (hypertension) is associated with an increased risk for stroke and heart disease, but it generally has no symptoms. So get tested regularly – and use the tips below to help keep your blood pressure in the normal range.

 

Reduce the PRESSURE

 

Proactive steps to maintain normal blood pressure:

 

  • Maintain a healthy weight – BP increases as weight increases
  • Exercise – keep a consistent routine that includes cardio
  • Limit your salt – less than 2,300 mg per day
  • Eat a balanced diet – consider the DASH diet eating plan

 

ACTION: Shop smart – make a list, plan your meals and read food labels!
