Watching the sugar in your diet can help you avoid serious chronic health issues such as heart disease and diabetes and help control your weight. Follow the tips below to help eliminate some of the sugar in your diet.
- Read food labels – an important first step in discovering added sugars
- Look for sugar under different names – high fructose corn syrup, or any word ending in “ose”
- Buy foods labeled “unsweetened” or “no added sugar”
- Choose whole fresh fruit – avoid fruit juice and canned fruits in syrup
