The Connection Between Creating Art and Stress Relief

With the coronavirus pandemic everyone is living in an uncertain time. Art can be a great outlet in a scary time. There are many ways creating art can be a great stress relief. Whatever the reason you are creating art it can help ease your mind.



If nothing else, creating art is a great past time and can serve as a distraction. Your mind could be racing a mile a minute but spend 30 minutes decompressing drawing and you’ll feel much more relaxed. Don’t forget to take some time for yourself to relax and hopefully creating art will do the trick.



Art can be a great outlet for self-expression. A simple daily sketchbook can a great way to release pent up emotions. Writing and drawing about your fears, goals and hopes are a great way to feel a sense of relief. Drawing literal or abstract representations of your stress can help you express emotions that are difficult to put into words.


Sense of Control

You may not be able to control the current situation but you can control your art. What colors you use, the medium you choose or how long you spend on a project is all up to you.
